National Organizations and University Programs

There are several national level organizations in the field of visual impairment including:

American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)

American Printing House for the Blind (APH)

Association for Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER)

DB Link, The National Clearinghouse on Children who are Deafblind

National Family Association for Deafblind

A state organization with some good resources.

California Transcribers and Educators of the Visually Handicapped

There are international organizations as well!

Royal National Institute for the Blind (be sure to check out the braille links!)

Throughout the United States and in Canada there are university programs that train teachers of children with visual impairments (TVIs), orientation and mobility instructors (O&M), and rehabilitation teachers (RT).
