The Council for Exceptional Children Division on Visual Impairments (DVI) is proud to
present the Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Penny Rosenblum at the International
Conference in Boston on April 3, 2008. Dr. Rosenblum is a professor at the University of Arizona in visual impairment.
The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a DVI member provides exemplary leadership and commitment to the field. Dr. Rosenblum received this prestigious award for her diligent work as advocate for persons with blindness, deafblindness, and multiple disabilities. Her contributions to her profession have been broad-based and innumerable.
As an educator in the field of blindness, Dr. Rosenblum has been a catalyst for the development and education of children with visual impairment. Dr. Rosenblum has served in various positions in DVI, including time with the Board of Directors. Dr. Rosenblum also developed the first website for DVI and continues to monitor a DVI listserve for board members.
Dr. Rosenblum has dedicated her life to teaching and to service at the local, state, and national levels. Dr. Rosenblum is a teacher, a leader and an advocate. She is considered an outstanding teacher and leader in the field of blindness and visual impairments.
