DIVISION ON VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

The Council for Exceptional Children Division on Visual Impairments (DVI) is proud to present the Distinguished Service Award to Donna L. McNear at the International Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on April 19, 2007.  Mrs. McNear is from Minnosota and is a teacher, consultant, and Past President of DVI.

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a DVI member who provides exemplary leadership and commitment to the field.   Mrs. McNear received this prestigious award for her diligent work as advocate for persons with blindness, deafblindness, and multiple disabilities.  Her contributions to her profession have been broad-based and innumerable         
As an educator in the field of blindness, Mrs. McNear has been the catalyst for the development and education of children with visual impairment.  Mrs. McNear has dedicated her life to teaching and to service at the local, state, and national levels.  Mrs. McNear has also organized grant activities and developed assessments for children with visual impairment that are used throughout the field.  She has served DVI in many roles, including President, where she worked to unify various organizations within the field of visual impairment.

Donna McNear is a teacher, a leader, and an advocate.  She is considered an outstanding teacher and leader in the field of blindness and visual impairment.
